#3 Y2K fashion - Early 2000s version

Hi, guys!
It's good to see you again on this post.

I was planning to cover more about the other elements of the preppy style, but now I will move on to a different style.

I will introduce the Y2K style.

WHAT IS THE Y2K?

Y2K, an acronym for the year 2000, was a mood of the late 1990s and early 2000s, peaking from 1993 to 2003. It was inspired by the Internet's rise and the seemingly limitless possibilities of the tech world. Features that categorize appearance include translucent and rainbow colors, which can be seen in fashion today.

Destiny's Child

This is a "real" y2k. In the early 2000s, these costumes were especially popular in the entertainment industry. The iconic moment of aesthetics will be Christian Dior's 1999 couture show, with sparkling plastic and sharp shapes rampant. However, the costumes worn by Destiny Child told many people about the atmosphere of the early 2000s and inspired people to think of them. By clothing, the Y2K piece included mesh tops, satin and leather skirts, metallic tops, and sparkling shoes. Inspired by the newly created CD, rainbow-colored fabrics and accessories imitating the rainbow scene of the disc became popular.

The following elements have been called elements of y2k fashion:

  • TRUCKER HAT
  • ED HARDY TEES
  • LOW-RISE JEANS
  • VELOUR TRACKSUITS
  • KITSCH ACCESSORIES

Celebrities who were famous for this fashion at that time included Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. This is Paris Hilton in 2002. Can you see the pants that she wore along the waistline and the pink top?

Do you have a better understanding of this fashion now?

So, what I'm going to say is that this fashion, which was popular in the early 2000s, returned 20 years later. I covered the y2k fashion of the 2000s in this post. Therefore, I'm going to talk about the slightly changed and more sophisticated y2k fashion of 2022 in the next post!
